Access Master: Key Card Swipe
May 18th, 2012A common question is to ask what a access master key card swipe system can do for a business that traditional locks and keys cannot do. To answer that, consider the following: If an employee loses a standard key or just leaves the company without turning in his or her keys, the business needs to immediately do two things. First, the business must hire a locksmith to replace the locks that the keys unlock. Second, they need to issue new keys to the employees that must access those areas. This assumes that they already have a system in place that keeps track of who currently has keys to those locks.
However, if that same business had a key card swipe system in place there would be no need to change the locks in the first place. Each employee’s card can be individually programmed to have access to locked areas or have that access revoked within a minute or two. There is no need to change locks or issue new keys. The card in question is simply deactivated.
An additional benefit of a key card swipe system for a business is that the system will have a record of which employees have access to any given area. It also eliminates the need for any employee to be carrying more than one key card.
This only scratches the surface of what a key card swipe system can do for a business. Other capabilities include programming key cards to grant access based on an employee’s position or authority, limit access to specific hours or days, and keep a log of employees’ access to each protected area. These are just a sample of the capabilities of these types of systems. Needless to say, they can be adapted to just about any business that requires internal access control. There are many brands like access master to choose from.
